We are a not-for-profit organization created out of a need for an organization to respond to the loss of identity and cultural capital that immigrants experience when they arrive in Canada. Our mandate is to preserve and advance values that empowers Africans. We work work to impact lives and deliver our services in Alberta and Nova Scotia.

Our Board

Institute of African Advancement Board of Directors is made up by a dynamic team who are leaders within their respective professions. As a registered not for profit, our Board of Directors help ensure the sustainable, equitable, and strategic implementation of Institute of African Advancement’ mission and vision in its daily operations.

Strategic Aim One

Investigate and understand challenges that
Africans are facing in Alberta and  Nova Scotia through collective approach and hosting effective workshops, panel discussions, conferences, and focus groups.

Strategic Aim Two

Collaborate to advance our community and recent African immigrants in Alberta and Nova Scotia hospitable communities by engaging families to discover their heritage through connecting people with cultural resources, social economic empowerment and policy advising.
